A 2010 CCHS graduate, Haley Richter was a four-time state qualifier in the 100-yard butterfly, finishing as high as fifth, and a four-time state qualifier in the 100-yard backstroke. An eight-time sectional champion, she still holds nine CCHS swimming records.
At Ball State University she was a four-year letter winner, the 2013 MAC Champion in the 400 medley relay, and broke four university records. As a sophomore she qualified for the Olympic Trials in the 100-meter butterfly.

A 1990 CCHS graduate, Karma Geyer competed in cross country and track and field. In cross country she was a four-time state qualifier, earning first-team all-state in 1988 and Indiana Cross Country All-Star honors in 1989, and helped lead the team to a sectional and regional title in 1986. In track and field she was a two-time state qualifier, finishing state runner-up in the 800-meter run as a senior and helping her team to a sectional title.
At Anderson University she was a two-time national runner-up in cross country, in 1990 and 1991.

Geoff Penrod served Whitley County Consolidated Schools as a teacher and athletic director from 1976 to 2016. During his tenure as athletic director, Columbia City won 53 sectional titles, 21 regional titles, 5 semi-state titles, and 2 state runner-up finishes. He served on the IHSAA Board of Directors from 2003 to 2015, including as president in 2007–08 and 2013–14, and chaired the IHSAA Executive Committee in 2010–11.
He was named Indiana Athletic Director of the Year in 2004 and received the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association State Award of Merit in 2003 and a National Federation of High Schools citation in 2011. In 2017 he received the IIAAA's Charles A. Maas Distinguished Service Award, and in 2004 he was inducted into the Bluffton High School Athletic Hall of Fame.

A 2006 CCHS graduate, Stephanie Reed earned nine varsity letters across soccer, basketball, and softball. In soccer she was a three-time MVP, four-time first-team all-conference, and two-time all-district selection, earning second-team all-state as a sophomore and first-team honors as a junior and senior. In softball she was first-team all-conference as a junior and senior, second-team all-state, and an Indiana All-Star, helping lead the Lady Eagles to a 2005 sectional title.
A four-time recipient of the prestigious Tina Parker Award and a two-time Academic All-State honoree, Stephanie graduated as salutatorian of the Class of 2006.

A 2004 CCHS graduate, Doug Sheckler was a four-year letter winner and three-time all-conference selection in basketball, and was named an Indiana All-Star as both a junior and a senior. During his career the Eagles won three conference titles, two sectional titles, two regional titles, one semi-state title, and a state runner-up finish, compiling a 79–20 record.
At Huntington University he was a four-time all-conference recipient and, in 2008, was named Conference Player of the Year and NAIA First-Team All-American. In 2013 he was inducted into the Huntington University Hall of Fame.
