History of Columbia City High School

Trivia Question:   What was the largest graduating class?  The smallest?

Answer:  The largest was in 1978, with 303 graduates listed in the yearbook.  The smallest was the first, 1881 with only two graduates.  In 2005, there are 256 students expected to graduate.

In 1968 a $1 million dollar addition provided badly needed room for students and featured a 257-seat lecture area and moveable partition walls.  New kitchen facilities and the multi-purpose room were also added.

During 1977 additions were made to the power mechanics area and the horticultural room, and an athletic building was built which included dressing rooms, rest rooms and a concession stand.

On July 9,1990, the name was changed back to Columbia City High School.
